IGNITION SYSTEM INSPECTION
Avoid touching the
spark plug and
rester probes to
prevent elec tric
shock.
If there is no spark at the plug, check all
connec-
tions for loose or poor contact before measuring
each peak voltage.
Use the recommended digital multimeter or a
commercially avai lable digital mu ltimeter with
an impedance of 10MnlDCV minimum.
The
display
value differs depending upon the
internal impedance of the multi meter.
Connect the peak voltage tester (lgnitionMate,
U.S.A.
only)
or peak voltage adaptor to the digital
multimeter.

IGNITION COIL PRIMARY PEAK
VOLTAGE
Check
all
system
connections
before inspection.
Check cylinder compression and check that the
spark plug is installed correctly.
Shift the transmission
into
neutral.
Remove the fuel tank
(page
2-7).
Disconnect the direct ignition coil 2P connector and
connect the peak voltage adaptor test probes to the
terminals.
