Machine Problems

Check the machine's status again if you suspect a malfunction.
Symptom
The machine is
not powered on.
The <Error> LED is
blinking.
The <Error> LED is
lit.
The display is
dark.
Unable to print
or copy.
The <Data> LED
does not light
even though you
instructed the
machine to print.
Unable to print
although a print
job is instructed to
Tray 5 (bypass).
The print quality
is poor.
Possible Cause
Is the power switched ON?
Is the power cord plugged
into the power outlet?
Is the power cord
disconnected from the
machine?
Does the AC outlet supply
power properly?
The system of the machine or
the components installed
may have a trouble.
Is paper or document
jammed?
Is the machine front cover or
another cover open?
Is the <Power Saver> button
lit?
Is there an error code
displayed in the control
panel's display?
Is the power cord connected?
Is the interface cable
connected?
Is the computer's
environment correctly set?
Is the required port status set
to [Enabled]?
Is the specified paper size
loaded in the tray?
An image quality problem
may have occurred.
Remedy
Switch the power ON.
Refer to "Power Source" (P.50).
Switch the power OFF and make sure the
power plug is inserted securely. Then switch
the power ON.
Connect another appliance to the outlet to
verify the power supply.
Switch the power OFF, then ON again. If the
problem persists, contact our Customer
Support Center.
Remove the jammed paper or document.
Refer to "Paper Jams" (P.272).
Refer to "Document Jams" (P.276).
Follow the instructions in the displayed error
code to take the required action.
Refer to "Error Code" (P.265).
The machine is in an Power Saver mode. Press
the control panel's <Power Saver> button to
turn off the Power Saver mode.
Follow the instructions in the displayed error
code to take the required action.
Refer to "Error Code" (P.265).
Switch the power OFF and make sure the
power plug is inserted securely into the power
outlet. Then switch the power ON.
Check the interface cable connection.
Refer to "Interface Cables" (P.32).
Check the computer environment such as
print driver settings.
Check the status of the port to use, and then
set the port status to [Enabled].
Refer to "Activating the Communication Port To Use"
(P.39).
Follow the instructions in the displayed error
code to place paper of the correct size, and
then try again.
Refer to "Error Code" (P.265).
Refer to "Loading Paper in Tray 5 (bypass)" (P.65).
Take the required action described in "Image
Quality Problems".
Refer to "Image Quality Problems" (P.249).
