11.
If the plug was left in place on the air dome
side, the symptom would be that the washer
would overfill. This is the first thing to check
for an overfill error.
nOTe: When removing the plugs, make
sure they are removed completely, because
they will butterfly within the nipple. If it
butterflies it may drain for a period of time
and then flip to the closed position and
cause problems later.

12.
The drain valve should be open if there
is no power to the valve. The valve closes
when power is applied to the drain valve
motor. There is a small motor that drives a
gear box and the gear box drives a ball in
the valve. The ball will move over and come
up against the seal at the top of the drain
valve assembly, closing it. In this position
the water will be retained in the tub. To
open the drain, remove power to the drain
valve motor and a return spring built into
the drain valve assembly will pull open the
valve, by allowing the ball to return to its
resting position.
13.
The control for the drain valve is on the
control board. It does not require power to
open the drain valve, just to close and keep
it closed. If power is lost or disconnected,
the return spring will open the valve within
30 seconds.
14.
A common problem would be scale buildup
on the seal that the ball comes up against.
Sometimes it will harden and this is not
repairable, or it may get a tear in it, or a
foreign object may work its way between the
inner and outer ring which keeps the valve
from closing.
15.
One way to check the drain for leakage is
to fill the tub, then pause the cycle, and it
should maintain the approximate water level
for at least 10 minutes.
16.
The seal is not available as a separate
part. The motor assembly is available as a
separate part.
17.
There are three wire connection terminals
for power to the drain valve. At the bottom
is the common terminal. At the top outside
edge is the 60 hertz terminal, at the top
inside edge is the 50 hertz terminal, and on
the side is the earth connection. Improper
power connections could shorten the drain
valve's life or not provide enough power to
close the drain valve depending on how it
was improperly connected.
