28. Reinstall the snap ring, into the groove
in the bearing housing, in front of the front
bearing.
29. Clean the seal holder without changing
any dimensions or deforming the holder in
any way. Remove any sealant and dirt from
the surfaces.
30. To install the seal, place the new axial
seal with the carbon ring into tool #518960
or #518858. Apply a thin layer of Scotch-
Clad™ 776 to the outside edge of the seal.
31. Immediately press the seal into the holder
and remove the tool without moving the seal
from its installed position.
32. Visually check that the seal is completely
inserted into the holder and sits against the
back wall of the seal holder.
33. Clean any dirt and old sealant in and
around the seal area, as well as the threads
of the 6 bolts.
34. Apply a continuous bead, about 1mm in
size, of Loctite® 5203™ on the flange of
the seal holder just outside the bolt holes
or on the bearing housing just outside the
bolt holes. Too much product will affect the
drying process.
35. Reinstall the seal holder into the bearing
housing, while trying to align the bolt holes
as best as possible.
