Electrical Shock Hazard
Disconnect power before servicing.
Replace all parts and panels before
operating.
Failure to do so can result in death or
electrical shock.
1.
Check that the drain valve electrical
connections are connected correctly for
frequency of current powering washer
(60Hz, 50Hz).
2.
Check that the ground wire is properly
connected.
3.
Make sure to install cover / splash guard
over motor and gear box assembly to
protect it against water intrusion.
4.
A leaking drain valve can cause a fill code.
5.
A sticking drain valve can cause drain
related codes, especially so, with
intermittent drain code alarms. Make
sure the drain opens and closes smoothly
throughout its entire range of motion.
6.
If a drain valve motor fails, always check for
water intrusion into the motor, locate source
of water intrusion and correct the problem to
avoid repeat cases of drain motor failure.
7.
Make sure the internal plugs in the nipple
fittings, located on the inlet side of the drain
valve, have been removed if hoses are
attached to them.
nOTe: In general, all MFR washers will
need the plugs removed before installing
the drain valve -- with the exception of one
of the two drain valves used on the MFR80
models.
8.
To check if foreign objects may be lodged
in the valve, or inspect the seal lip of the
valve, open the washer door and, using
a flashlight, look through the holes in the
bottom of the basket to view the inlet side of
the drain valve.

9.
There are two hoses at the top of the drain
valve assembly. One is a fill hose coming
from the chemical dispenser. The other
hose connection goes to the air dome,
which is connected to the water level control
on the control board. The air dome and
water level control are used to determine
water level in the washer. Zero level is not
the bottom of the basket, it is where the
hose is connected to the nipple on the drain
valve assembly.
10.
When installing a new drain valve
assembly, make sure the plugs are removed
from the hose connections being used.
Place a screwdriver against the plug and
pop the end of the screwdriver with a
hammer to knock it out. The small plastic
plug can go out the drain typically without a
problem. It is about the size and thickness
of a nickle.
