Configuring IP Routing

Configuring IP Routing
The WAN in this example uses OSPF routing. The HQ at Berlin is the network
backbone, or area 0. Each remote site is a stub area. Mannheim is area 2;
Dublin, area 3; and Prague, area 4.
An OSPF router identifies itself by the highest IP address on a loopback
interface or, if no loopback interface has been configured, on any router
interface. In this example, each router has been configured with a loopback
interface on a network in that router's area that has been reserved for loopback
addresses. Because loopback interfaces are always up as long as router has
any connectivity, router IDs and network topology remains consistent. The
Berlin router's ID is 192.168.127.1. The Mannheim router's ID is 192.168.135.2.
The Dublin router's ID is 192.168.193.3. The Prague router's ID is 192.168.225.4.
The ProCurve Secure Router at each site also provides an Internet connection
to the connected LANs. The routers use a manually configured default route
to forward traffic to the Internet.
For more information on configuring static and default routes, see the Basic
Management and Configuration Guide, Chapter 11: IP Routing—Configur-
ing Static Routes. For more information on configuring dynamic routing
protocols, see Chapter 13: IP Routing—Configuring RIP, OSPF, BGP,
and PBR.
Figure 15-3 shows the network OSPF structure.
