Before determining the type of WAN connections to purchase, ProCurve Retail
determines which offices need to exchange data, the type of data that must
transmitted, the volume of data, and the frequency of transmissions. The
company also factors in other requirements such as security and the location
of each office. Location is important because it determines which options are
viable. For example, crossing country borders becomes expensive if you want
to lease dedicated E1- or T1-carrier lines.
