The following table lists the print-quality defect corrective procedure, their
definition, and the page where each procedure is provided.
Defect
Description
Light or Undertone
The image density is too light in all colors.
Print
Blank Print
The entire image area is blank.
Black Print
The entire image area is black.
Toner Smears
Toner smears appear on the page.
Random Spots
Spots of toner are randomly scattered on
the page.
Streaks
Streaks appear on the page.
Pitched Color Dots
Evenly spaced dots appear vertically in a
line.
Vertical Blank Lines
There are faded or completely non-printed
lines along the page.
Ghosting
There are faint, ghostly images appearing
on the page.
Jagged Characters
Characters have jagged or uneven edges.
Horizontal Band,
Horizontal density non-uniformity appears
Voids, or Streaks
in halftone areas.
Auger Mark
Diagonal density no uniformity appears in
halftone areas.
Damaged Media
The paper is wrinkled, folded, or worn-out.
Image Not Centered
The image is not centered on the page.
Color Registration
Color registration is out of alignment.
Skew
The image is not parallel with both sides of
the paper.
Unfused Image
The toner is not completely fused.
Hunting
The printed image has wavy column line in
the direction of the paper travel.
Incorrect
Incorrect magnification when copying with

the ADF feeding.
