Tools needed
Magnifying loupe
This adjustment eliminates any vertical offset between the two image halves.
Perform this procedure after replacing the X-axis drive unit, the printhead, or
the power control board.
1.
Turn on the printer and allow it to warm up to its normal operating
condition.
2.
Set the front panel menu item Print Quality to Standard.
3.
Load the paper tray with a stack of quality, Letter-size or A4-size
paper.
4.
Scroll to the extended service support menu by first scrolling to the
front panel menu item Service Support and then pressing buttons 1
and 4 together.
5.
Scroll to the front panel menu item Calibration Scan and Skip.
6.
At the sub-menu item Scan and Skip Image, press Print.
7.
Examine the portion of the test print called "Scan Shift Calibration
Image;" it indicates the currently set scan shift offset value. With the
magnifier, examine the set of horizontal lines; the left half is produced
by the left scan, the right half by the right scan. Select a value in which
a set of lines is aligned with each other.
