Phaser 380 Color Printer
This ensure that the printhead restraint mechanism properly interlock with the
printhead. A poor interlock may allow the printhead to move while the printer
is in transit, resulting in damage to the printer.
Note
Ensure the printhead-to-drum adjustment, as described in the earlier
procedure "Printhead-to-drum spacing adjustment" on page 9-16, is correct.
The printhead-to-drum adjustment must be performed before this
adjustment. Since the printhead-to-drum adjustment physically repositions
the printhead, it can affect the head transit restraint's hold on the printhead.
1.
Turn off the printer and remove the power cord. Remove the top
panel as described in the topic "Cabinet panels and covers" on
page 8-4. Remove the ink loader support as described in the topic
"Ink loader support/cross member" on page 8-11.

Remove the ink loader as described in the topic "Ink loader" on
page 8-9.

Slide the printhead to the left so it engages the fixed restraint on the
left side of the printer frame. Tilt the printhead forward slightly to the
restraint position (24.6
5.

When properly aligned, the pin interfaces with the printhead 's
receiver such that the pin is centered in the receiver with a 0.5 mm
(0.020 in.) gap and no more than a 0.66 (0.026 in) mm height above the
receiver's surface.
7.
Center. To center the pin, loosen the large nut and rotate the eccentric
nut until the pin is centered. Then tighten the nut.
8.
Height. To adjust the pin height, loosen the two screws securing the
transit restraint pin guide (on the outside of the left-side of the printer
frame). Tighten the two screws when the transit restraint pin is
properly positioned to no more than a 0.66 mm(0.026 in) above the
receiver's surface.
9.
Depth. To adjust the depth of the restraint's pin, loosen the small nut
at the end of the pin. Rotate the pin to adjust its position laterally in
the receiver. Then tighten the lock nut.
10. Reassemble the printer and power it on, then off. After the printhead
parks, test the transit restraint system by locking and unlocking it
several times. If the printhead parks without making any unusual
sounds and the restraint can be easily engaged, the adjustment is
correct.
