1.
Reinstallation. Using the printhead removal tool, reverse the removal
steps to reinstall the printhead.
2.
Torque the mounting screws to 20 in/lbs.
3.
Check that the printhead is engaged with the forked tilt arm at the left
side of the printer. Rotate the printhead to its print position and
ensure that the tilt cam gear is engaged with the tilt cam solenoid.
Note
If the same printhead that was just removed from the printer is being
reinstalled in the printer, and no changes or adjustments were made to
the x-axis drive system, then you do not need to make the following
cold printhead-to-drum adjustment.
4.
At the left end of the printhead, slide the printhead gap tool between
the printhead and the drum. The flat side of the gap tool, marked
HEAD, faces the printhead.
Hold the gap tool so its 4 COLD 5 mark, (which represents a
0.030 inch gap between the printhead and the drum) is level with the
horizontal marks scribed near each end of the cap/wipe/purge
assembly's drive shaft. Adjust the printhead's spacing adjustment
screws to hold the gap tool loosely. This sets the preliminary "cold"
printhead-to-drum gap.
5.
Dress the printhead data cable close to the chassis to preserve EMI
integrity.
