Paper preheater

Tools required
Magnetic screwdriver
#2 Phillips tip
Warning
Even when the printer is turned off, AC line voltages may be
present at the printer heaters while the printer is plugged into AC
power.
1.
Turn off the printer and remove the power cord.
2.
Remove the left -side and right-side panels and the top panel, as
explained in the earlier topic, "Cabinet panels and covers" on
page 8-4.
3.
Remove the front panel.
4.
Open the front door and remove the drum maintenance tray.
5.
Remove the media width sensor as discussed earlier in the topic
"Media width sensor assembly" on page 8-18.
6.
Disconnect:
The wiring harnesses leading from the paper preheater to I/O board 3
(labeled "ORANGE" and "RED") on the board.
The paper preheater's ground wire connected to the engine frame
below the exit drive gear train.
The heater's power wiring harness near the I/O Board 2.
7.
At the left side of the printer, remove the E-clip securing the
upper-feed roller electric clutch to the upper-feed roller shaft. Remove
the electric clutch.
8.
Remove the large E-clip securing the left end of the upper feed roller
to the printer frame. Remove the brass bushing.
9.
Support the paper preheater with one hand. At the right end of the
printer remove the recessed screw securing the right end of the paper
preheater to the printer frame.
10. Gently remove the paper preheater through the front of the printer
frame. Carefully feed the cabling through the right pressure load
casing. Pry up the grommet in the nearby cross-member to create
more room for the wiring to pass through as you remove the
preheater.
