#2 Phillips tip
1.
Turn off the printer and remove the power cord.
2.
Remove the right-side and left-side panels and the top and front
panels, as explained in the earlier topic, "Cabinet panels and covers"
on page 8-4.
3.
Remove the right-side cover support (5 screws).
4.
Remove I/O board 3 as explained in the later topic "I/O board 2 and
I/O board 3" on page 8-65.
Note
Do not loosen or alter the 4 mm setscrews, located in the center of the
spring retainers, that adjust the pressure springs.
5.
With a 6 mm hex wrench, remove the two bolts securing the two
spring retainers at each end of the transfix module. Set the spring
retainers aside.
Note
Do not confuse the left-side spring with the right-side spring; their
pressures have been "fine-tuned" to prevent wrinkling.
6.
Remove the pressure springs.
7.
Remove the eight screws, four on each end, securing the transfix
module cross-member in place. Remove the grommets and wiring
harnesses to free the cross member. Set the cross member aside; be
careful of the pre-heater exit sensor's wiring harness.
8.
Temporarily, remove the Y-axis motor's choke coil and bracket from
the end of the Y-axis motor, so the coil does not interfere with
removing the transfix roller.
9.
Remove the transfix roller.
