Configuring NCR POS Printers for USB

Installing the NCR 7158 USB Upgrade Kit

If you're upgrading the printer, you may need to upgrade the firmware
and must install a USB Board. If your printer is factory configured for
USB, proceed to "Configuring the Printer."

To update the firmware:

Update the boot and flash versions of the printer's firmware to
communicate with the USB connector prior to installing the new USB
board.
1. You need to obtain Part Number 497-0417??.
2. Unplug the printer's power cable.

CAUTION:
DO NOT plug the
USB Cable into
the Cash Drawer
Connector.
3. Flip DIP switch No.1 on the back of the printer to the On (up)
position.
This puts the printer into download mode.
4. Plug the printer's power cable back in. The LED blinks quickly.
5. Open the readme file, and follow the directions.
6. Unplug the power cable again.
