Replacement Procedures
10. Find the NVRAM IC on the controller board (board location U6) and
determine if the IC is socketed or soldered. (Some controller boards have
the NVRAM IC socketed as shown in the figure; other controller boards
have this IC soldered to the board.) (See Figure 2.)
11. If your controller board has the NVRAM IC socketed, carefully remove the
NVRAM IC from its socket on the old controller board. (See Figure 2.)
IMPORTANT
When you replace the controller board, if the existing NVRAM IC is
socketed, always move the existing NVRAM from the old controller
board to the new board. (The NVRAM IC stores the page count data, as
well as other data that are unique to a particular print engine.)

Installation
CAUTION
To prevent electrostatic damage to electronic components, always wear
a properly grounded static wrist strap when you handle circuit boards
and integrated circuits (ICs).
1. If you removed the NVRAM IC from the old controller board, carefully
install the NVRAM IC that you removed into the NVRAM socket on the
new controller board. Be sure to observe the correct IC pin orientation.
(See Figure 2.)
