Tractor Adjustment Procedure
After removing and replacing tractors, perform the following procedure to
align the tractor shaft, in order to alleviate the problem of paper pulling away
from the tractor guides.
This adjustment spaces the tractor splined shaft and the tractor support shaft
evenly apart, and places the tractor support shaft perpendicular to the frame.
This allows the tractors to slide across the shaft without binding, and helps the
paper to stay on the tractor pins after page ejects.
IMPORTANT
If the tractor shaft is not aligned properly, the tractor holes in the fanfold
paper may be damaged when the paper "back-feeds."
NOTE: To make the adjustment, you will need two tractor alignment tools
(see page 38 for part number).
1. Power off the printer.
2. Remove the left rear cover (see page 401).
3. Unload the paper.
4. Loosen the screws that hold the tractor support shaft (one each on the left
and right side frames).
5. Remove the E-ring securing the left tractor on the tractor support shaft.
