Windows XP users

If your computer is running Windows XP, you can use the
included KORG USB-MIDI Driver for Windows XP.
The first time you connect the TR to the USB port of your
computer, the standard USB-MIDI driver provided by Win-
dows will be installed automatically. If you want to use the
KORG USB-MIDI Driver for Windows XP, please re-install
the driver manually using the procedure described below.
Installing the KORG USB-MIDI Driver
A license agreement for the software of the TR is
included separately. You must read this license agree-
ment before you install the software. Installing the soft-
ware will be taken to indicate your acceptance of this
license agreement.
If you have logged in using a restricted account, you
won't be able to install or uninstall drivers in Windows
XP. Please log in as a user belonging to the computer
administrator group, or ask your administrator for
assistance.
Make settings so that installation will not be halted for
authentication of digital signatures. (☞p.266 "Bypass-
ing authentication of digital signatures during driver
installation")
This driver is for Windows XP only. It cannot be used
for Windows 95/98/Me/2000.
The driver must be installed for each USB port. If you
connect the TR to a different USB port than the one you
used when installing KORG USB-MIDI Driver for Win-
dows, you will need to use the same procedure to
install the driver again.
1 You must install KORG USB-MIDI Driver Tools before
you connect the TR to your computer. Make sure that the
TR is not connected, and insert the included CD-ROM
into your CD-ROM drive. Normally, the "TR Application
Installer" will start up automatically.
If, because of the settings on your computer, the program
does not start up automatically, double-click "Korg-
Setup.exe" in the CD-ROM.
2 In the list, choose "KORG USB-MIDI Driver Tools," and
click [Install] to start up the KORG USB-MIDI Driver
Tools installer.
3 The KORG USB-MIDI Driver Tools Installer screen will
appear. Click [Next>].
4 The "License agreement" will appear. Carefully read the
contents, and if you agree, check "I accept the terms of
the license agreement" and click [Next>].
5 Specify the installation destination. The screen will show
the installation destination folder. If you want to change
this, click [Change] and select the desired installation
destination. Click [Next>].
6 Choose the "Typical" and click [Next>] to begin the
installation.
7 When the installation is complete, click [Finish] to exit
the installer.
8 Using a USB cable, connect the USB B connector of the
TR to the USB connector of your computer.
Make sure that the plug is oriented correctly, and push it
all the way into the connector.
Before you do so, power-on the computer and start up
the operating system.
Windows will detect that the TR has been connected.
Then the standard driver will be installed automatically.
9 In the task bar, choose [Start]→[All Programs]→[KORG
USB-MIDI Driver Tools] →[Install KORG USB-MIDI
Device] to start up the setup utility. The KORG USB-
MIDI devices currently connected to your computer will
be shown in the list above. The lower area will show the
version of the KORG USB-MIDI Driver that you will be
installing. Select TR in the list above, and click [Install].
