Safety Precautions
The PathFinder 350S complies with the safety requirements set out in IEC 61010-1,
Safety Requirements for Electrical Equipment for Measurement, Control, and
Laboratory Use, Part 1: General Requirements.
This manual contains warnings and cautions which, when properly followed, can
prevent personal injury and damage to the PathFinder 350S.
Operators must observe all warnings and cautions outlined in the manual, and must
not access areas that are restricted to trained service engineers.

Safety Labels
The safety labels shown below are used to warn of the presence of hazards that
could result in injury to the operator.

General Safety
To ensure the occupational health and safety of operators working with
PathFinder 350S, ALL operators must be aware of the risks involved with:
The PathFinder 350S is designed to process clinical laboratory specimens, some of
which may present a biological risk to operators. It is important to follow safe
laboratory practice for protection from biological risks when processing specimens,
and when performing maintenance and troubleshooting procedures.
All materials that come in contact with patient samples should be considered a
biological risk, and treated according to your laboratory's safe handling and disposal
procedures.

The warning label indicates a non–bio-
logical hazard to the operator.
Examples of associated warnings are as
follows:
Beware of moving parts.
Do not remove protective covers.
The potential Biological Risk label
indicates an area of the instrument that
could have been in contact with
hazardous biological materials.
Do not work in an area that may contain
biological risks unless you are properly
protected.
Refer to the applicable biohazard
procedures for your laboratory.
