Using the Error/Stat Rack
All specimen tray configurations are supplied with an Error/Stat rack for use on the
PathFinder 350S. The Error/Stat rack is shown in Figure 7-7.
The features of the Error/Stat rack are:
7.10.1 Processing a STAT Tube
To process a STAT tube the Sorter must already be processing tubes. Processing a
STAT tube requires that the Error/Stat rack is placed in the last gate position on the
specimen tray:

Error Wells: four standard output wells for the placement of tubes with
processing errors.
Emergency Bin: this open slot will catch tubes that must be discarded from
the grippers. For instance, if processing is started with a tube in the grippers,
the orientation of the tube is unknown and so it may be placed into the
emergency bin.
STAT Well: this is a single input well for the placement of STAT tubes for
priority processing. It has slots either side to allow sensors to detect the
presence of a tube.
While processing other tubes, place the STAT tube into the STAT well in the
Error/Stat rack.
The Sorter will pick the STAT tube next and place it in the carousel, and then
carry on with normal processing.
