6.10.2 Database Cleanup
Cleaning the database will perform a database vacuum to remove old data and
reindex current data. The database cleanup can help improve response times of the
views and report generation and is part of the weekly maintenance schedule.
To perform the database cleanup press the Clean Database button. To return to
the tools page, press Cancel.
6.10.3 Automatic Data Purge
The database purges data automatically once it reaches a certain age. This is the
best way to maintain system performance, particularly the generation of reports
and views.
It is recommended the automatic purge time is set to as short a time as is practical.
The default setting is 14 days. Any number of days is allowed, but the setting
should be based on the expected time span of the reports generated by the
laboratory.
For example, in Figure 6-52, any data older than 90 days will be purged whenever
the PathFinder 350S is started.
To change the setting, enter the number of days to keep data into the text box and
press Enter.
