9.1
Safety
When handling specimens or contaminated equipment, wear gloves and follow the
standard safety procedures for your laboratory.
9.2
Cleaning Materials
The following cleaning materials are required:
A weekly maintenance schedule is recommended. This is essentially a weekly clean
to minimise biological contamination hazards and protect the robotic parts of the
PathFinder 350S.
9.2.1
Before You Start
The maintenance requires the PathFinder 350S is switched off. Before exiting the
user interface, it is recommended an administrator perform a database cleanup via
the tools page. See Section 6.10.2 for details.
The remaining maintenance can only be performed when the PathFinder 350S is
switched off. Refer to Section 7.5 for a procedure to shut down the
PathFinder 350S.
9.2.2
Weekly Maintenance Tasks
Recommended maintenance tasks are listed below:

Clean rag.
Lint free cloth.
A suitable cleaning fluid, such as Virkon™ (Antec International Ltd), or
isopropyl alcohol.
Standard household window cleaner.
Weekly maintenance schedule.
Using a clean rag and suitable cleaning fluid, clean the surface of the
specimen tray.
Using a clean rag and cleaning fluid, clean the grippers of the robot arm.
Using a clean rag and cleaning fluid, clean the carousel.
Using a lint–free cloth and a standard window cleaner, clean the covers.
Using a clean rag and cleaning fluid, clean the casing. Take care not to
damage cables.
Using a damp, lint–free cloth, clean the computer screen. Do not use cleaning
fluid to clean the computer screen.
Dispose of cleaning materials properly.
Check the red rubber sleeves on the grippers for splits and cracks. If
damaged, replace with new sleeves.
