This section will provide step by step instructions on performing the tasks required
to operate the PathFinder 350S. The instructions refer to pages and controls on the
user interface, where necessary these controls will be illustrated, however some
steps may refer the reader to the relevant section in Section 6.
Before switching on power to the PathFinder 350S, remove all racks from the
specimen tray and any tubes from the carousel:
1)
Turn the main power switch On. Check that the light and the digital display
on the front of the module turn on.
2)
The Sorter module will initialise and the workcell controller will boot up. The
LCD monitor should power on and show Windows loading. If the LCD monitor
does not power on, press the Power button.
3)
The workcell controller software and user interface will start automatically.
The login screen will be displayed.
4)
Login by entering the user name and password given to you by the system
administrator. If the cursor is not positioned in the Username box, press the
Username Box. The cursor will move into position.
5)
If you make a mistake when typing your username or password,
press the Backspace key to delete characters you have typed.
6)
Once logged in the PathFinder 350S home page will be displayed. Note: the
username will be displayed in the status bar, in the lower right hand corner of
the page.
Detail on the home page contents is provided in Section 6.4.
To load racks onto the specimen tray, carry out the following procedure:
Output racks must be empty when they are placed.
1)
Hold the empty rack you want to place in front of the barcode reader. The
barcode reader will turn on automatically and you will see a reading beam.
The best reading distance is 5-15 cm. The LED above the reader will flash
when the barcode has been read successfully.
2)
Insert the rack into the gate and push it in until the front of the rack is behind
the raised red retention strip at the front of the tray.
3)
Push the rack down to the surface of the tray and let the spring clip push the
rack back against the retention strip.
4)
The user interface will be updated with the rack status.
