Chapter 10

Preparing to Run a Fiber Autotest

The Fiber Autotest is a comprehensive test that reports PASS/FAIL results
based on user configurable limits. The Fiber Autotest will optionally generate
PASS/FAIL results for the fiber optic network specifications stored in the
Network Database.
Before you run the Autotest, however, it is important to verify that you have
properly prepared the WireScope 350 for your certification project.
The WireScope 350 has the ability to detect the characteristics of the attached
Fiber SmartProbes. Based on this information this interface automatically brings
up the Fiber Main Menu screen once the Fiber SmartProbe is attached. You are
now ready to configure the Fiber Autotest settings.
The key to providing this capability is that the SmartProbe interface port warns
the operator if there is a potential invalid configuration before testing starts.
