Specifying the cable

You must specify either the part number or the performance characteristics of
the cable under test in order for the WireScope 350 to make accurate length
measurements. You can either select the cable part number from a pre-loaded
list of the most popular cable types or you can enter the cable part number and
specifications.
If you manually enter cable specifications, it is important to input accurate
values for the nominal velocity of propagation (NVP) for each cable pair.
Failure to do so will produce inaccurate cable length and distance-to-fault
measurements.
To enter cable information starting at the Autotest Settings screen, select the
cable icon and press
or Edit.
The Cable Setup configuration screen prompts you to specify the manufacturer
of the cable that you will be testing. If you do not know the manufacturer, select
"unspecified". Use the
key if you need to scroll the list of manufacturers. In
the example above, "Lucent" is selected. Then, press
or Next.
