Power Meter Calibration

The power meter requires a calibration in order to produce accurate power
measurements. This calibration is a loopback configuration where the
+
transmitter of the Fiber SmartProbe
inserted in the WireScope 350 is connected
to the detector of the same probe with a SINGLE (i.e. no couplers) fiber patch
cord.
The Power Meter Calibration screen shown below appears whenever a new
+
Fiber SmartProbe
is detected upon entering the Power Meter tool. Pressing the
Calibrate button on the Power Meter screen will also bring up this screen.
+
The WireScope 350 constantly monitors the Fiber SmartProbe
waiting for a
valid loopback configuration. Once this valid configuration is detected, the
animation of the loopback cable stops and the Calibrate button is enabled. Press
Calibrate or
to begin the calibration. The calibration will run to
completion and the Fiber Power Meter screen will be displayed. Any stored
reference and delta power values will be reset after a calibration.
