P1682-CHARGING SYSTEM VOLTAGE TOO LOW —
TEST
6 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the PCM harness connectors.
Disconnect the Generator Field harness connector.
Measure the resistance between ground and the (K125) Generator Field Source
circuit in the PCM harness connector.
Is the resistance below 100 ohms?
Yes → Repair the short to ground in the (K125) Generator Field Source
→ Go To 7
No
7 Measure the resistance of the (K20) Generator Field Driver circuit from the
Generator harness connector to the PCM harness connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes → Go To 8
→ Repair the open in the (K20) Generator Field Control circuit.
No
8 Measure resistance across the Generator Field Terminals at the Generator.
Is the resistance above 15 ohms?
Yes → Replace or repair the Generator as necessary.
→ Go To 9
No
9 NOTE: Before continuing, check the PCM harness connector terminals for
corrosion, damage, or terminal push out. Repair as necessary.
Using the schematics as a guide, inspect the wire harness and connectors. Pay
particular attention to all Power and Ground circuits.
If there are no possible causes remaining, view repair.
Repair
ACTION
circuit and replace the PCM.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 3.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 3.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 3.
Replace and program the Powertrain Control Module per Service
Information.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 3.
