*KEY IN IGNITION AND DRIVER'S DOOR OPEN CHIME NOT
OPERATING PROPERLY
BODY CONTROL MODULE DTC'S
DRB CHIME ACTUATOR
DRIVER DOOR AJAR STATUS
IGNITION SWITCH
BODY CONTROL MODULE
TEST

Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII , read the current Body Control Module DTC's.
Does the DRBIII display any Lighting or Ignition switch related DTC's?
Yes → Refer to symptom list for related symptom(s).
→ Go To 2
No

NOTE: If the complaint is that the chime is on with the driver door open and
key removed, refer to the Chime section in general information and use the
DRBIII
under BCM I/O's to verify other inputs are operating properly
before continuing with this test.
With the DRBIII , actuate the CHIME. (BCM actuator)
Does chime sound a warning?
Yes → Go To 3
→ Refer to symptom Chime Inoperative in the Chime category.
No

Open the driver door.
With the DRB, in Input/Outputs, read the DR DOOR AJAR SW state.
Does the DRB display DR DOOR AJAR SW: CLOSED ?
Yes → Go To 4
→ Refer to symptom list for problems related to Door Ajar.
No

With the DRBIII in BCM Inputs/Outputs, read the Ign Status while inserting the
key in and out of the ignition switch.
Does the DRBIII Ign Status display change?
Yes → Replace and program the Body Control Module in accordance
→ Check the Ignition Lock Cylinder for damage. If OK replace the
