Symptom:

LOW BEAM RELAY COIL OUTPUT OPEN/SHORT TO GROUND

INTERMITTENT CONDITION
FUSE #6
HEADLAMP RELAY
HEADLAMP RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
HEADLAMP RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN
BODY CONTROL MODULE
TEST
1
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII , clear all Body Control Module DTC's.
Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds then turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII , read the current Body Control Module DTC's.
Turn the Low Beam Headlamps ON.
Does the DRBIII display: HEADLAMP RELAY COIL OUTPUT OPEN/SHORT TO
GROUND?
Yes → Go To 2
→ The condition that caused this symptom is currently not present.
No

Turn the ignition off.
Check fuse #6 in the PDC.
Is the fuse open?
Yes → Replace fuse 6 in the PDC.
→ Go To 3
No

Turn the ignition off.
Remove the Headlamp Relay from the Power Distribution Center.
Substitute the original Headlamp Relay with a known good relay.
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII , erase the current Body Control Module DTCs.
Turn the engine off, wait 10 seconds then turn the ignition on.
Turn the Low Beams ON.
With the DRBIII , read the current Body Control Module DTC's.
Does the DRBIII display: Low Beam Relay Coil Output Open/Short To Ground?
Yes → Go To 4
→ Replace the original Head Lamp Relay.
No
POSSIBLE CAUSES
ACTION
Inspect the related wiring harness for a possible intermittent
condition.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
