Maintenance Safety

• NEVER work on the motor grader with the engine
running.
• NEVER fill the fuel tank with the engine running.
• DO NOT smoke while filling the fuel tank or servicing
the grader.
• DO NOT change the engine governor settings.
• ALWAYS replace damaged or lost decals.
• DISCONNECT battery cables when working on the
electrical system or when welding on the unit.
• IF battery needs charging, battery charger must be off
when making connections.
• BE SURE correct battery polarity is observed,
negative (-) to negative (-) and positive (+) to positive
(+), when connecting a battery charger or jumper
cable.
• DO NOT use hands to find hydraulic leaks. High
pressure fluid can penetrate the skin causing severe
injury.
• DO NOT service or repair the motor grader blades,
scarifier, or moldboard in a raised position unless they
are properly supported by approved jacks and jack
stands.

RECEIVING THE MOTOR
GRADER
The motor grader was inspected thoroughly at the
factory. However, road hazards or vandalism may occur
during transport, resulting in damage.
Inspect the grader as outlined below and perform
necessary repairs before placing the grader in service.
1. Check engine oil level as shown in the Cummins
engine Operation and Maintenance Manual.
2. Check fuel tank, cooling system, chain boxes,
engine oil, and hydraulic reservoir for proper levels
and contaminants. If contaminants are suspected,
flush and fill the system.
3. Check all axle fluid locations for proper amount of
oil.
4. Read this manual and understand the contents.
5. Check all hydraulic functions and repair or adjust
as necessary. Have any repairs or adjustments
performed by a qualified mechanic or consult the
local LeeBoy dealer.
6. Check for missing parts. If parts are missing, or
motor grader is damaged, consult the local LB
Performance dealer.
7. Check the parking brake to make sure it is
operating properly.
8. Check to make sure seat belt is operating properly.
