Replacing Moldboard Lift
Cylinders
Removal
1.
Refer to Preparing Grader for Maintenance on
page 5-6 and park grader.
2. Thoroughly clean moldboard lift cylinders (Figure
5-44), especially areas surrounding hydraulic
hoses and fittings.
3. Lower blade to float position.
4. Remove cotter pins from ball joints.
5. Use a ball joint tool to unhook lower ball joints.
6. Remove side plate (half) from moldboard lift cylinder
at rod end only.
7.
Raise cylinders to close them.
8. Tag hydraulic hoses for identification during
installation.
9. Disconnect hydraulic hoses.
10. Immediately plug hoses and cylinder ports to
prevent contamination of hydraulic system.

11. While supporting moldboard lift cylinder, remove
bolts from trunion shaft assembly.
12. Remove moldboard lift cylinder (Figure 5-44).
13. Check bushings and bearings assembly for damage
and ensure they still fit snugly on the cylinder.
14. Ensure ball joint is clean prior to installation/re-
greasing.
15. Inspect hydraulic fittings for damage and debris.
