TRANSFER CASE OIL
Checking Transfer Case Oil
Level
Remove the transfer case fill plug (Figure 5-15,1).
The transfer case is full when oil runs from the fill plug
opening. Add oil as necessary.
Draining, Flushing, and Filling
Transfer Case
1.
Refer to Preparing Grader for Maintenance on
page 5-24 and park the grader.
2. Allow the transfer case to cool.
3. Remove the transfer case oil drain plug (Figure
5-16).
4. Drain oil into a suitable container and dispose of oil
properly.

Wear eye protection and chemical
resistant gloves when using solvents for
cleaning purposes. Some solvents can
cause skin irritation and eye damage.
5. Flush the transfer case with solvent and drain
completely.
6. Install drain plug and fill with oil until oil flows from the
oil level/fill plug opening (Figure 5-16).
7.
Install oil level plug.
8. Start engine and check operation.

Drive Axle Information

See service manual for information on inspection,
adjustments, lubrication, towing, and torque
specifications. Use drive axle manufacturer's
recommendations for any service related to the drive
axle.
RADIATOR AND COOLANT
SYSTEM
Checking Radiator and Coolant
Level
The motor grader is filled with a 50/50 mixture of
antifreeze and water at the factory with protection to
-25°F (-32°C). Some geographical areas may require
special antifreeze or coolant system procedures.
Contact the local authorized dealer for additional
information.
Check the coolant freeze protection
level before the start of cold weather.
Check with the local authorized dealer for
information regarding freeze protection.
Hot engine coolant can cause serious
personal injury. Shut off engine before
servicing. Remove radiator filler cap only
when cool enough to touch with bare hands.
Slowly loosen filler cap to relieve pressure
before removing cap completely.
To check the radiator coolant level:
1.
Refer to Preparing Grader for Maintenance on
page 5-24 and park the grader.
2. Ensure that grader has been shut down long
enough for the coolant temperature fall below 120°
F (50° C).
3. Slowly loosen radiator cap to relieve pressure.
4. Remove cap.
5. Visually check coolant level in radiator.
Coolant is extremely poisonous and
deadly if ingested. Handle with care and
wash hands after contact.
