REAR DRIVE HOUSING
Checking Rear Axle Oil Level
1.
Refer to Preparing Grader for Maintenance on
page <?> and park grader.
2. Remove differential fill plug (Figure 5-32,1). Oil
level is correct if oil runs from oil level plug (Figure
5-32,2). Add oil as needed.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
When servicing the electrical system,
always remove the ground cable from the
battery first, followed by the positive cable.
Generally, if the negative cable is grounded
during removal, sparks will not occur. If the
positive is grounded during removal, sparks
will occur and could ignite explosive gases.
When batteries are connected, follow these rules:
•
Disconnect negative (-) battery cable when working
on or near the alternator.
•
Do not attempt to polarize alternator.
•
Make sure alternator wires are correctly connected
before connecting battery terminals.
•
Do not ground alternator output terminal.
•
Do not disconnect or connect alternator wires
while batteries are connected or while alternator is
operating.
•
Connect batteries or booster battery in the correct
polarity: positive (+) to positive (+), negative (-) to
negative (-).

Do not disconnect batteries when engine is running
and alternator is charging.
Disconnect battery cables before connecting
battery charger to batteries. Charge batteries
separately.
Batteries create explosive gases
when charging. Do not expose these
gases to sparks or open flame during
maintenance. Always perform battery
service in a well-ventilated area or outside.
Serious injury can occur from exploding
batteries.
