Operation

GENERAL INFORMATION

This section provides the Operating instructions for the
LeeBoy Model 695 Motor Grader. It
is important to read, understand, and follow all
precautions, operating instructions, and warnings
written in this manual before starting or operating the
grader.
Failure to observe the operating
precautions, warnings, and instructions
provided in this manual can result in serious
injury or death. Only authorized personnel,
who are fully trained to operate the grader
should operate the LeeBoy Model 695 Motor
Grader.
This grader should be kept in good
mechanical condition at all times.
Do not operate a grader that is in
need of repair. Put an information tag on
the instrument panel that says "DO NOT
OPERATE". Remove the key from the ignition
switch. Repair all damage at once. Minor
damage can result in major system failures.
Do not start or operate the LeeBoy
Model 695 Motor Grader without reading,
understanding, and following all information
given in this manual and displayed on the
grader. The operator must understand the
function of all controls, indicators and
gauges before starting the engine. Serious
injury or death can result if these procedures
are not followed.
Refer to Section 3 for a list of controls and a description
of their functions.

Operating Safety

• ALWAYS wear OSHA required safety equipment when
running the motor grader.
• ALWAYS sit in the operator's seat with the seat belt on
when operating the equipment.
• ALWAYS make sure no people or objects are in line of
grader movement BEFORE starting.
• WORK slowly in tight areas.
• DO NOT run engine in areas where ventillation is not
adequate.
• AVOID steep hills and sharp turns if possible.
• REDUCE speed before turning or swinging loads.
• ALWAYS look BEFORE changing direction of grader
movement.
• DO NOT run engine without operator seated in
operator's seat.
• DO NOT start engine by shorting across starter
terminals. Grader will start in gear if normal circuitry is
bypassed.
• NEVER start engine while standing on the ground.
Start engine only from operator's seat, with directional
control lever (Figure 3-7) in NEUTRAL.
• NEVER shift the transfer case gear lever while on an
incline.
• CHECK the parking brake to make sure it is operating
properly.
Shift lever must be in LOW or HIGH at
all times. Grader must be on level ground and
at full stop when shifting.

Parking Safety

• ALWAYS park the motor grader on solid, level ground.
If this is not possible, park the motor grader at a right
angle to the slope.
• ALWAYS lower moldboard, scarifier, and front blade (if
equipped) when leaving the grader unattended.
• ALWAYS engage parking brake when parking or
leaving the grader unattended. (Pull the parking brake
knob (Figure 3-8) to apply parking brake).
• USE proper flags, barriers, and warning devices
especially when parking in areas of traffic.
