Replacing Scarifier Tooth
Removal
1.
Raise and support the scarifier frame (Figure 5-35).
Wear eye protection when using a
hammer on metal structures to prevent damage from
flying metallic objects. Flying metallic objects can
cause serious eye injuries.
2. Refer to Replacing Scarifier Tooth Shank and
remove the scarifier tooth shank from the scarifier
support (Figure 5-36).
3. While supporting the scarifier tooth shank, drive the
scarifier tooth from the scarifier tooth shank (Figure
5-36).
Installation
1.
While supporting the scarifier tooth shank, drive
the new scarifier tooth on the scarifier tooth shank
(Figure 5-36).
2. Refer to Replacing Scarifier Tooth Shank and
install the scarifier tooth shank in the scarifier
support (Figure 5-36) .
Replacing Articulate Cylinders
Removal
1.
Refer to Preparing Grader for Maintenance on
page 5-6 and park grader.
2. Thoroughly clean the articulate cylinder (Figure
5-37), especially areas surrounding the hydraulic
hoses and fittings.
3. Tag hydraulic hoses and disconnect them from the
articulate cylinder.
4. Immediately plug the hoses and cylinder to prevent
contamination of the hydraulic system.
5. While supporting the articulate cylinder, remove the
bolts and washers from both ends of the cylinder
(Figure 5-37).
6. Remove/slide out the articulate cylinder.
7.
Inspect the hydraulic fittings. Replace
if necessary. Remove fittings for reuse
on replacement articulate cylinder.

Installation
1.
Refer to Preparing Grader for Maintenance on
page 5-6 and park grader.
2. Install hydraulic fittings on replacement articulate
cylinder (Figure 5-37).
3. Position the articulate cylinder (Figure 5-37) on the
frame mounts and install bolt and washers through
the end yokes. Secure bolt.
4. Using tags created during removal, remove plugs
and connect the hydraulic hoses to the articulate
cylinder fittings.
5. Using a grease gun, lubricate articulate cylinder
(Figure 5-37) swivel joints.
