Steering
The 695 Motor Grader steering controls are the
steering wheel (Figure 2-8), the wheel lean lever
(Figure 2-8), and the articulate lever (Figure 2-8).
Proper steering utilizing these controls allows for
greater steering control and maneuverability. .
The steering wheel controls (Figure 2-8) the steering
motor, which controls the flow of hydraulic oil to the
steering cylinder. The steering cylinder is mounted
between the front axle support and the right hand
spindle. The left and right spindles are connected by a
tie rod, which forces the left wheel to turn with the right
wheel.
The wheel lean lever (Figure 2-8) controls the flow of
hydraulic oil to the wheel lean cylinder. The wheel lean
cylinder is mounted between the front axle support and
the right hand spindle support.
The moldboard assembly can contact
the drive wheels during articulation. Make
sure the turning radius and moldboard
position do not result in drive wheel damage
due to improper steering.
The articulate lever (Figure 2-8) controls the flow of
hydraulic oil to the articulate cylinders. The articulate
cylinders are mounted between the mainframe
assembly and the boom assembly. The boom assembly
is mounted on the main frame using an articulator shaft
and bearing assembly. The assembly allows the grader
to pivot right and left when the articu late cylinders are
actuated.
The steering can be controlled using one or all of the
steering systems.

Moldboard
The moldboard assembly (Figure 2-9) is mounted
underneath the boom assembly, supported by a
drawbar and turntable assembly. The moldboard is the
primary tool used to move grading materials.
The moldboard position is controlled by hydraulic
cylinders, which allow the moldboard to be moved in the
following ways:
Shifted left to right - up to 3 feet (0.914 m) maximum
Tilted for adjustment to the top and bottom
Pivoted left to right
Raised and lowered
