COMPONENT REPLACEMENT
PROCEDURES

General Information

This section provides instructions for replacing motor
grader components during maintenance. The following
instructions can be used with the illustrations in the (IPL)
illustrated Part List .
NOTE: Make sure the motor grader is parked correctly
before performing the replacement procedures. Refer
to instructions in "Preparing Grader for Maintenance"
on page
5-6.

Replacing Scarifier Tooth Shank

Removal
Wear eye protection when using a
hammer on metal structures to prevent
damage from flying metallic objects. Flying
metallic objects can cause serious eye
injuries.
1.
Refer to Preparing Grader for Maintenance on
page 5-27 and park grader.
2. Raise and support the rear scarifier frame (Figure
5-35).

3. Use a hammer and drift to force the pin
forward and out of the shank. (Figure 5-36)

4. Remove the tooth shank from the support.
Installation
1.
Refer to Preparing Grader for Maintenance on page
5-27 and park grader.
2. Ensure that pin is oriented so that "BACK" engraving
is on the opposite side of the slot from the cutting
edge of the tooth.
3. While supporting the tooth shank (Figure 5-36), use
a hammer to drive the pin into the new tooth and
shank.
1.
Position the new tooth shank in the rear scarifier
support.
2. Secure with shank lock pin.
