Changing Engine Fuel Filter
Refer to the engine manufacturer's operation and
maintenance manual for additional information on
engine service. Use manufacturer's recommendations
for engine fuel filter replacement and bleeding the fuel
system.
To change the engine fuel filter:
1.
Refer to "Preparing Grader for Maintenance" on
page 5-6 and park the grader.
2. Allow the engine to cool completely.
Diesel fuel is highly explosive. Do
not expose fuel to sparks or flames. Do not
smoke while performing maintenance on
the engine fuel system.
3. Open the engine access panel door (Figure 3-1,1)
located on the right hand side of grader.
4. Thoroughly clean and dry the area surrounding the
fuel filter.

5. Using a fuel filter wrench, turn the fuel filter (Figure
5-22) counterclockwise to remove.
6. Clean the mounting surface and remove any loose
filter seals in the filter head-mounting surface.

Lightly lubricate the fuel filter seal with clean
lubricating oil.

Stop the engine immediately if
any fuel leakage is noted. Do not start
the engine until the leakage problem is
corrected.
Wear eye protection and chemical
resistant gloves when using solvent for
cleaning purposes. Some solvents can
cause skin irritation and eye damage.
Wear eye protection when using
compressed air for drying or cleaning
components. Never point the nozzle at
another individual. Use a safety reduction
valve to reduce air pressure to a safe level.
Compressed air can cause serious personal
injury if misused.
