CHECKS AND ADJUSTMENTS

Checking Parking Brake

To check the parking brake:
1.
Park the grader on an incline.
2. Pull the parking brake knob (Figure 3-8) to engage
the brake.
3. If brake is functioning correctly, motor grader will
not move.

Checking Oil Lines and Fittings

1.
Refer to Preparing Grader for Maintenance on
page 5-6 and park grader.
2. Check grader for indications of oil leakage around
oil lines, hoses, and fittings.
3. Tighten fittings as necessary. Replace hoses and
fittings as needed.

Checking Air Intake Hoses

If hoses are damaged or not properly
connected, debris can enter the engine
causing premature engine wear.
1.
Refer to Preparing Grader for Maintenance on
page 5-6 and park grader.
2. Check air intake hoses from the engine to the air
cleaner assembly.
3. Check air intake hoses from the air cleaner
assembly to the precleaner.
4. Check for cracked, dry rotted, loose, worn, or
damaged hoses, tubes, and clamps.
5. Tighten, repair, or replace parts as needed.

Checking Window Washer Fluid
Reservoir Level
To check the washer fluid reservoir level:
1.
Refer to Preparing Grader for Maintenance on
page 5-6 and park grader.
2. Open the washer fluid reservoir access panel door
(Figure 3-1,16).
3. Remove the cap from the reservoir.
4. Add new washer fluid to fill line.
5. Replace the cap.
6. Close the access panel door.
NOTE: During the cold season, make sure there
is freeze-protected washer fluid in the
reservoir.

Cab Access Panel Door

The cab access panel door has a spring that keeps the
door propped open. To release the door, gently pull
back on the spring and then pull the door shut.
