router rip
Use this command to enable or disable RIP configuration mode. The no form of this command 
disables RIP.
Syntax
router rip
no router rip
Parameters
None.
Defaults
None.
Mode
Global configuration: B3(su)‐>router(Config)#
Usage
You must execute the router rip command to enable the protocol before completing many RIP‐
specific configuration tasks. For details on enabling configuration modes, refer to Table
"Enabling Router Configuration Modes" on page 16‐2. 
Example
This example shows how to enable RIP:
B3(su)->router#configure
B3(su)->router(Config)#router rip
B3(su)->router(Config-router)#

ip rip enable

Use this command to enable RIP on an interface. The no form of this command disables RIP on an 
interface: By default, RIP is disabled on all interfaces.
Syntax
ip rip enable
no ip rip enable
