6.3 Fault Detection
Digital Operator Display
Cause
There is phase loss in the drive input power.
There is loose wiring in the drive input power terminals.
There is excessive fluctuation in the drive input power
voltage.
There is poor balance between voltage phases.
The main circuit capacitors are worn.

Cause
During Rescue Operation, either the DC bus voltage
dropped below S4-12 × (S4-13 - 10%), or 100 ms after
triggering Rescue Operation, the DC bus voltage did not
reach S4-12 × S4-13 before the motor started.

Encoder cable is disconnected.
Encoder cable wiring is wrong.
Encoder has no power.
Motor brake is not released.
During Rescue Operation, either the DC bus voltage
dropped below S4-12 × (S4-13 - 10%), or 100 ms after

reach S4-12 × S4-13 before the motor started.

Input Phase Loss
PF
Drive input power has an open phase or has a large imbalance of voltage between phases. Detected when L8-05 = 1 (enabled).
• Check for wiring errors in the main circuit drive input power.
• Correct the wiring.
• Ensure the terminals are tightened properly.
• Apply the tightening torque as specified in this manual.
• Check the voltage from the drive input power.
• Review the possible solutions for stabilizing the drive input power.
• Stabilize drive input power or disable phase loss detection.
• Check the maintenance time for the capacitors (U4-05).
• Replace the capacitor if U4-05 is greater than 90%. For instructions on replacing the capacitor, contact Yaskawa or a Yaskawa
representative.
Check for problems with the drive input power. If drive input power appears normal but the alarm continues to occur, replace
either the control board or the entire drive. For instructions on replacing the control board, contact Yaskawa or a Yaskawa
representative.

Rescue Operation Power Supply Deterioration Error
• Check the DC bus voltage setting for Rescue Operation (S4-12).
• Lower the speed reference set for Rescue Operation (d1-25).
• Check the backup power supply. It may need to be replaced with another UPS if it has become worn and can no longer provide
enough power.
Encoder Disconnected (for Control Mode with Encoder)

No encoder pulses are received for longer than the time set to F1-14.PGoH
Reconnect the cable.
Correct the wiring.
Check the power line to the encoder.
Ensure the motor brake releases properly.
• Check the DC bus voltage setting for Rescue Operation (S4-12).
• Lower the speed reference set for Rescue Operation (d1-25).
• Check the backup power supply. It may need to be replaced with another UPS if it has become worn and can no longer provide
enough power.
Encoder Disconnected (detected when using an encoder)

Encoder cable is not connected properly.
Reconnect the cable.
Dynamic Braking Transistor Fault

The built-in dynamic braking transistor failed.
• Cycle power to the drive and check if the fault reoccurs.
• Replace either the control board or the entire drive. For instructions on replacing the control board, contact Yaskawa or a
Yaskawa representative.
Motor Contactor Response Error
SE1
Motor contactor does not respond within the time set to S1-10 (Run Command Delay Time).
Check the motor contactor, auxiliary switches and the wiring of the contactor feedback signal.
Starting Current Error
SE2
The output current was lower than 25% of the motor no-load current at start.
Check the contactor for any problems.
Output Current Error
SE3
The output current was lower than 25% of the motor no-load current during operation.
Check the contactor for any problems.
