6.3 Fault Detection
Mechanical data for the elevator have not been set up
correctly.
The acceleration is too fast.
Digital Operator Display
Cause
Battery voltage is too low.
The output cable is disconnected.
The motor winding is damaged.
The output terminal is loose.
Digital Operator Display
Cause
Motor characteristics have changed.
Parameters that control Initial Pole Search are set
incorrectly (set up may be incomplete).
Parameters for the motor encoder are set to the wrong
values (set up may be incomplete).
Brake was released during Initial Pole Search or during
power loss.
Initial Pole Search cannot be performed on the motor
being used.
Digital Operator Display
Cause
An external fault was received from the PLC with other
than F6-03 = 3 "alarm only" (the drive continued to run
after external fault).
Problem with the PLC program.
Digital Operator Display
Cause
An external device has tripped an alarm function.
Wiring is incorrect.
Incorrect multi-function contact input setting
Digital Operator Display
Cause
Noise has corrupted data while writing to the EEPROM.
Hardware problem.

Check parameters o1-20, o1-21, and o1-22 and set them to the correct values for the elevator.
Check and adjust the acceleration rate and the jerk at acceleration start set in parameter C2-01.
Rotor Polarity Detection Timeover
dv7
Unable to detect the magnetic poles within the designated time.
Charge the battery.
• Check for wiring errors and ensure the output cable is connected properly.
• Correct the wiring.
• Check the resistance between motor lines.
• Replace the motor if the winding is damaged.
Apply the tightening torque specified in this manual to fasten the terminals. .
PM Rotor Position Estimation Error
dv8
An invalid value resulted from Initial Pole Search.
Note: Reset the fault and try Initial Pole Search again.
Repeat the setup process.
Perform Stationary Auto-Tuning or Initial Pole Search Auto-Tuning.
Check the brake sequence.
The brake must remain applied during Initial Pole Search and whenever the power supply is interrupted.
Use a PG option card that is compatible with both the drive and an absolute encoder.
Option Card External Fault
EF0
An external fault condition is present.
• Remove the cause of the external fault.
• Remove the external fault input from the PLC.
Check the PLC program and correct problems.
External Fault (input terminal S3)
EF3
External fault at multi-function input terminal S3.
External Fault (input terminal S4)
EF4
External fault at multi-function input terminal S4.

External fault at multi-function input terminal S6.
External Fault (input terminal S7)
EF7
External fault at multi-function input terminal S7
External Fault (input terminal S8)
EF8
External fault at multi-function input terminal S8
Remove the cause of the external fault and reset the fault.
• Ensure the signal lines have been connected properly to the terminals assigned for external fault detection (H1-
• Reconnect the signal line.
• Check for unused terminals set for H1-
• Change the terminal settings.
EEPROM Write Error
Err
Data cannot be written to the EEPROM.
• Press
.
• Correct the parameter setting.
• Cycle power to the drive.
• If the problem continues, replace the control board or the entire drive. Contact Yaskawa or a Yaskawa representative for
instructions on replacing the control board.
