5.21.12 spanning-tree pathcost method
The spanning-tree pathcost method command sets the default path cost method. To revert to the default setting, use the no
form of this command.
Syntax
spanning-tree pathcost method {long | short}
no spanning-tree pathcost method
long — Specifies 1 through 200,000,000 range for port path costs.
short — Specifies 1 through 200,000,000 range for port path costs.

User Guidelines
This command applies to all the spanning tree instances on the switch.
The priority value must be a multiple of 4096.
The cost is set using the spanning-tree cost command.
Example
The following example sets the default path cost method to "long".
Console# spanning-tree pathcost method long

5.21.13 spanning-tree bpdu

The spanning-tree bpdu global configuration command defines BPDU handling when spanning-tree is disabled on an
interface.
Syntax
spanning-tree bpdu {filtering | flooding}
filtering — Filter BPDU packets when spanning-tree is disabled on an interface.
flooding — Flood BPDU packets when spanning-tree is disabled on an interface.
Default Configuration
The default definition is flooding.
