Tape Drive Removal/Replacement when dWWN
Enabled
CAUTION:
Fiber fabric problems: Read the information below before removing or
replacing a Fibre Channel drive in a library that has dynamic World-Wide
Naming enabled.
The dynamic world-wide naming feature assigns names to Fibre Channel drives by their
slot location in a drive tower rather than by their drive number. The dWWN feature allows
you to replace a Fibre Channel drive without the need to re-configure the network. An
explanation of the feature is given in
Note: With firmware version 3.04, you cannot mix dWWN-supported and non-dWWN

Drive Removal

When removing a drive in a library that has dWWN enabled, you must determine:
If the drive is to be left on site and if there is a possibility that the drive will later be
connected in a non-dWWN environment.
If the drive may be used in another library that does not contain 3.02 or later
firmware.
In either of these situations:
1. Make sure that the drive is unavailable to the system.
2. Disconnect the Fibre Channel cable from the drive.
3. Connect your laptop to the CLI port.
CAUTION:
Fiber fabric problems: Be sure that the "pprrcc" in the next step is
correct; if the wrong drive value is entered, you may have to re-configure
the system.
4. Enter DRIVE PPRRCC REVERT, where "pprrcc" is the panel, row, and column of
the drive. The "revert" command will cause the drive to revert to its native value.
