Testing the Modem
To test the modem configuration:
1. Set the modem to go off-hook in answer mode; on some modems this is done by a
switch setting.
2. Open the right, front door of the tape library.
3. Connect the CCITT cable from the modem to the third phone jack (labeled SER 1)
on the side of the MPC/MPCL card.
Note: If your modem has a DTR LED, this LED will light.
4. Dial into the modem.
5. To disable rate adjust—enter \J0.
6. Once connected, enter P. This will present the L700/700e diagnostic menu to your
screen.
7. Upon completion of your session, exit the menu.
8. Enter ++++ and wait for the message "OK."
