Removing a heat sink retention module
Use this information to remove a heat sink retention module.
To remove a heat sink retention module, complete the following steps:
Step 1.
Read the safety information that begins on
417.
Step 2.
Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables.
Step 3.
Remove the cover (see
Step 4.
Remove the applicable air baffles (see
the microprocessor 2 air baffle" on page
Step 5.
Remove the microprocessor and heat sink (see
page
499).
Attention: When you remove a microprocessor and heat sink, be sure to keep each heat sink with
its microprocessor for reinstallation.
Step 6.
Use a screwdriver and remove the four screws that secure the retention module to the system
board; then, lift the retention module from the system board.
