MX240 Application Services Modular Line Card Description

The Application Services Modular Line Card (AS MLC) is an X86-based card for MX960,
MX480, and MX240 routers to deliver integrated application service solutions. See
Figure 40 on page
134. The first application that network operators can take advantage
of is the Junos Content Encore system, a high-throughput, solid state storage platform
for media rich content delivery. Additionally, the AS MLC can serve as the platform for
Juniper Networks JunosV App Engine, powering a host of network applications directly
embedded into your MX Series 5G Universal Routing Platforms.
AS MLC is modular and decouples CPU and storage in individual field-upgradeable units.
The AS MLCs are designed to enable application throughput up to 50 Gbps and a storage
capacity of 400 gigabytes (GB) of NAND Flash.
