Follow the suggested actions in the order in which they are
listed in the Action column until the problem is solved.
See Chapter 4, "Parts listing, " to determine which components
are customer replaceable units (CRU) and which components
are field replaceable units (FRU).
If an action step is preceded by "(Trained service technician
only)," that step must be performed only by a trained service
technician.
A fan has failed or has
been removed.
Note: A failing fan
can also cause the
TEMP LED to be lit.
A system temperature
or
component
exceeded
specifications.
Note: A fan LED
might also be lit.
Memory failure.

Problem Determination and Service Guide
1. If you have a MAX5 attached to
the server, check to see if the front
FAN error LED is lit on the MAX5
or the server. Depending on which
LED is lit will determine which
device you need to troubleshoot.
2. Reinstall the removed fan (see
"Replacing the front hot-swap
fans").
3. If an individual fan LED is lit,
replace the fan.
Note: A failing fan might not cause
the fan LED to be lit.
4. (Trained service technician
only) Reseat the microprocessor
(see
board
microprocessor-board
"Replacing
and
microprocessor-board assembly").
5. (Trained service technician
only) Replace themicroprocessor
board.
1. See the system-event log for the
source of the fault (see "Event
has
logs" ).
2. Make sure that the airflow of the
server is not blocked.
3. If a fan LED is lit, reseat the fan
(see "Removing the front hot-swap
fans" and "Replacing the front
hot-swap fans").
4. Replace the fan for which the
LED is lit.
5. Make sure that the room is
neither too hot nor too cold (see
"Environment" in "Server features
and specifications").
