5 Removing and replacing components
Step 1 Read the safety information and "Installation guidelines".
Step 2 Remove the top cover (see "Removing the top cover").
To ensure proper cooling and airflow, do not operate the server for more than 2 minutes with
the top cover removed.
Step 3 Squeeze the fan handles together, and then lift the fan out of the server.
Step 4 If you are instructed to return the fan, follow all packaging instructions, and use any
packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.

Replacing the middle hot-swap fan
To install the replacement middle hot-swap fan, complete the following steps:
Step 1 Lower the fan into the socket, and push it downward until it clicks into place.
Step 2 Make sure that the fan error LED on the replacement fan is off.
Step 3 Install the top cover (see "Replacing the top cover").
