!
DANGER
INJURY DURING SETUP
Keep all personnel away from the press during setup.
Ensure that there is no die or other tooling in the press during setup.
Failure to comply with these instructions will result in death or serious injury.
NOTICE
PRESS MUST BE AT TDC
Inch the ram to top dead center — 0° ± 2°— before you zero the resolver. Be accurate when
setting the press to TDC. Use a dial indicator on the face of the ram or other means to
ensure that the ram is at TDC. DO NOT use the crank angle reading on SmartPAC 2.
If the press is not at TDC when you zero the resolver, the timing settings may be wrong.
• If the ram is already at TDC (within 2°, as determined by using a dial indicator or
other means), go to step 1, below.
• If the ram is not at TDC, move it to TDC, as follows:
Make sure a tool number is loaded in SmartPAC 2 (refer to "Create and Load a Test
Tool Number," page 103). Turn the Prog/Run key to Run. Inch the press until it is at
TDC. Use a dial indicator on the face of the ram, or other means to ensure that the
ram is as close to TDC as possible. Go to step 1, below.
NOTICE
• If you turn the Prog/Run key and nothing happens, press RESET repeatedly until the
SmartPAC 2 changes modes.
• If "PRESS CONTROL IS IN LOCKOUT MODE" appears on the display, turn the stroke
select key to OFF and then back to the desired operating mode to clear the message.
NOTICE
SELECT = HIGHLIGHT + ENTER
When this manual says "select," it means highlight the item and press ENTER.
1.
