SmartPAC 2 with WPC Integration

NOTICE
COMPLETE WIRING BEFORE YOU UPGRADE OR ADD OPTIONS
Make sure that you have completed the wiring before proceeding.
• For ProCamPAC, see instructions for connecting programmable cam channels, page 83.
• For DiProPAC, refer to instructions for connecting DiPro Sensor Interface to SmartPAC,
page 90 or installing the DiPro Remote Connection Box, page 92.
The following instructions describe how to add die protection and/or programmable cam switch
capabilities to a basic SmartPAC 2 or upgrade your 8-cam or 8-sensor system to 16 cams or 16
sensors. After you install the board or boards, proceed to the appropriate wiring instructions,
listed at the end of the installation steps.
1.
Turn power off to SmartPAC 2. The display on the front panel should be blank.
2.
Before you proceed, you should ground yourself by touching any large metal object.
This will remove any static electricity that you may be carrying around. A static
electricity "zap" will destroy the components.
• If you are replacing an existing board, go to step 3.
• If you are adding a new board, then locate where on the main SmartPAC 2 processor
board it should be placed (see Figure 2 - 42). Then go to step 4.
3.
If replacing an existing board (or boards): Complete these steps for each board you are
replacing.
a.
Look inside SmartPAC 2, and locate the board that you wish to replace.
Figure 2 - 42 illustrates ProCamPAC and DiProPAC superimposed on the main
processor board.
b.
Remove the connector(s) attached to this board. If you have an 8-sensor or 8-cam
system, there will only be one connector. Conversely if you have a 16-cam or 16-
sensor board, there will be two connectors to remove.
If you are upgrading ProCamPAC, the connector or connectors in question go to the
ProCam outputs assembly. If DiProPAC, the connector or connectors go to DiPro
Sensor Interface or DiPro RCB. If you need to connect 9-16 of the cams or
sensors, go back to the previous sections and complete the wiring.
c.
Remove the four screws which hold the board to the standoffs under the board, and
put them aside for now.
d.
Mark the old board before you remove it, so that you do not re-install it by mistake.
Remove the board by pulling it straight back from the SmartPAC 2 board. This
disconnects it electrically, as well.
e.
Verify that you are still "grounded," and then get the new board.
f.
Install the new board by plugging it into the corresponding connector. The
connectors on the underside of the boards are keyed, so that they can be plugged in
only the proper way. These connectors connect correctly with the mating pins on
the main SmartPAC 2 processor board.
